WKN Corsican Cup 2008 Ajaccio, Corsica - Corsican kickboxing found the spirit of the ‘Emporer’ as they scored a hard fought fight to win an impressive team victory in Napoleon’s birthplace last weekend (May3).

Local hero Toussaint Andarelli, one of the WKN’s top promoters staged a top class international event in Ajaccio on the picturesque Mediterranean island of Corsica. His victory was not just with his fighters winning over an international line-up but the former world champion Andarelli, now cements the Corsican events as the show to be seen on.

The event kicked off on Friday (May 2nd) at the press conference and weigh-ins which where onboard a huge cruise liner in the Bay of Ajaccio. All were welcomed onboard, not by the traditional sound of a whistle but instead - drummed onboard by a guard of honour dressed in full Napoleonic wear and if that wasn’t enough the captain of the ship greeted everyone onboard.

AN ANTONIO - When the lights went off in the Freeman Coliseum, the New York Clash and the Los Angeles Stars were the two teams left celebrating in a storm of confetti. At the conclusion of the World Combat League regular season, if you would have reseeded all eight teams based on regular season performance:

L.A would be number one and New York would come in at number eight. They took different paths to the finals but both teams deserve to be called conference champions and both will have a shot to be crowned world champions.

The show opened with the New York Clash taking on the New Jersey Tigers. Free agent pick-ups Abraham Han and Tom Grimmer did battle at 164 lbs.

Han scored quickly with his left hand, knocking down Grimmer on three occasions with one minute left to go. At the 20 second mark an overhand right followed by a left hook put Grimmer on the mat again forcing the TKO stoppage.

In other bouts Perth admired Kung Fu stylist Marco Tentori is willing to match the tall fearless fighting aggressor Chris Crainwhite; Stephynee Bouquet returns to fight Melbourne’s Nicole Brolan and a brutal combating talent Owen ‘Fury’ takes on Burke Austin.

In the first fight Andrei faced Leonardo Amendoim Monteiro from Brazil. “We were expecting this bout as a warm-up, something easy, but we were surprised”, - Evgeny Kotelnikov says, trainer of Kulebin. Brazilian guy had been preparing for this tournament at the best training-camp of Bangkok “13Coins”, owned by Songchai. Mr. Songchai is the biggest promoter of Thailand, actually he is pretty old at the moment, but his son and daughter continue the case in promotions. The best fighter of Thailand 2007 SANCHAI is training in this camp.

Giant Hoost for the Fight Game in northern ireland
K1 Kickboxing Legend Ernesto Hoost is back in Northern Ireland with a new title to his credit.

The Martial Art giant was recently honoured with a special award by the Queen of Holland for his work as an ambassador for sport in the Netherlands. He is the first martial artist from his country to be bestowed with the honour. This is Mr Perfect’s second trip to the Emerald Isle, the K1 superstar had previously visited the province for the Prokick Kickboxing awards where he picked up a lifetime achievement award. The popular ring legend staged coaching classes at the celebrated ProKick HQ.

“I’m so pleased Mr Ernesto Hoost accepted our invitation to come back to Northern Ireland.” said event organiser Billy Murray.
