Mixed Martial Arts obviously includes all fight techniques and skills where it doesn’t only depend on how good you can grapple, wrestle and hit separately. But how good you can apply all this in the same time.
Another obvious thing is that I am not MMA specialist and to be honest I am not a big fan of it either. Though it is a fight sport which is very popular these days and many fight nights are promoted Worldwide.
Getting back to the topic. Basically quite a few fighters try themselves and/or move from muay thai kickboxing to MMA expecting more fights and hopefully more financial reward to come. Some like Overeem success quite well and get on the top. (Let’s also not forget what kind of fiasco he is facing due to doping scandal happened few weeks ago).
One of my friends who is also the best Australian muay thai fighter (66.700 kg) Taylor Harvey fought MMA last year for the first time and he also said it was his last MMA bout too.
‘I had a crack at mma… I choked him in the first…and my last mma fight. I am muaythai.‘
TAYLOR HARVEY MMA FIGHT
Another friend of mine – Rob Powdrill who is a multiple muay thai champion of Australia and for sure the best in this country, being WKN World title challenger.
Rob Powdrill is always ready to fight whoever and where ever and it doesn’t matter he knocks people out or he goes down. The way Perry Cale mentioned it is the best Australian fighter’s attitude. It’s not just the Words as for those who know Powdrill, you know exactly what I mean.
Well both results can be called as disappointments as both are written as defeats in the record. What happened in France you can read here at the post fight interview and the MMA bout’s video is below.
There is another fight proposal for Rob to compete in Russia under kickboxing rules and an MMA fight will happen in June.

As the conclusion RE video above.
Some may say – MMA is a universal fighting where everything is allowed. Okay.
The fight is the fight. But how can you loose the fight if you didn’t get hit hard in your face even once and you didn’t even get tired?
That’s exactly what I asked Rob after the bout and he smiled and said he can go do it again. He was choked and had to tap out. And he was upset and devastated also, which is normal.
Choke is a choke and yeah you can’t do much being chocked as it is all over. But let’s call it wrestling competition then? I am just saying, NOT being MMA specialist. Just probably a little different FIGHT vision where muay thai is an 8-Weapons fighting.
